PEROVIAL®: SUCCESS OF IBSA RESEARCH FOR MEN’S HEALTH

One of the areas IBSA research has focused on is that of urogynaecology, of extreme importance not only physically but also psychologically for both men and women: for this reason, drugs and medical devices for pathologies that affect such delicate parts of the body must be designed, engineered and developed with particular attention and care.

In the wake of continuous and focused research, IBSA developed Perovial®, one of the few pharmacological remedies for Peyronie’s Disease, an underestimated pathology that is more frequent than one might think in the male population.

Peyronie’s Disease causes the formation of abnormal fibrous tissues inside the penis, which can lead to annoying symptoms such as curvature of the penis, pain during sexual activity, erection and penetration problems and consequent psychological-relational distress.

Perovial® is a new non-surgical treatment of the disease: a pharmacological therapy, under medical prescription, with a cycle of injections with pre-filled disposable syringes.

The presence of 0.8% highly purified hyaluronic acid with a molecular weight between 800 and 1,200 kDalton makes it possible to obtain two results:

• the moisture retention properties help to soften any plaques and facilitate the healing process
• the antioxidant effect of the active ingredient, furthermore, makes it possible to fight the anti-inflammatory action of free radicals

Treatment takes place with prefilled syringes, one of the pride and joys of IBSA’s scientific-engineering research, which are used in other products such as Hyaluxelle®, which makes the product easier to use, perfectly sterile, and reduces the risk of errors and increases treatment safety.
